Parents

You are your child’s best education advocate.

You know your child’s strengths and challenges, and you can help identify and push for the resources your child needs to succeed. Don't rely on the school guidance counsellor to give the best advice for uni, work or apprenticeships - don't rely on the school to give best advice in subjects - research yourself, become informed.

Secondary School

Where a child is born is one of the most significant factors in determining his/her educational prospects. One in five students leave school without NCEA Level 2 (a basic indicator of achievement) and children from low-income households are half as likely to achieve University Entrance as those from high-income households….the result is thousands of young New Zealanders confined to a life of unrealised potential. Being informed will give your child their best conduit to success.

Tertiary

39% of first year university students – leave university completely, change universities or change courses. You are the best person one to stop your child being in this statistic – become informed.
